Please note: Euro plates offer a streamlined appearance without pre-drilled holes, allowing you to fit to your vehicle's exact measurements. Most car dealers and vehicle repairers are able to attach your plates to your vehicle for a nominal fee.

What are Euro plates?

Euro plates - short for European plates - are specifically designed to fit the slimline number plate slots of European branded vehicles. They are narrower and longer than standard sized South Australian plates and fit comfortably on European cars. Euro plates add an authentic touch to your car, completing the look that the original designers intended.

What size is a Euro number plate?

Our Euro plates come in a standard size of 520mm x 112mm, suitable for both the front and rear of your car.

Do Euro plates have pre-drilled holes?

No. Euro plates do not come with pre-drilled holes. This feature allows you to attach the plates precisely to your vehicle according to its specific measurements, ensuring a perfect fit.

How do I order Euro plates?

You can choose to collect your plates at a Service SA Customer Service Centre or have them mailed to you for a $20 postage fee.

How long does it take to get my Euro plates?

If ordered online, your Euro plates will be ready in about 10 working days.

If you visit your local Service SA Customer Service Centre, you can collect your plates immediately as they have a selection on hand at all times.

Can I choose what numbers and letters I want on my Euro plates?

No. Euro plate number and letter combinations are issued sequentially.

If you would like a special sequence of numbers or letters, we recommend considering Custom or Personalised plates.

Can I buy a Euro plate as a gift?

Yes. If purchasing a Euro plate as a gift, the application must be completed with the details of the vehicle owner. If you order online, the plate agreement will be posted directly to the registered owner’s postal address.

Label requirements for hydrogen, electric and gas powered vehicles

You must include a warning label on your number plate if your vehicle:

  • is gas fuelled, hydrogen or electric powered (including hybrids); and
  • was built or modified after 1 January 2019.

These labels assist emergency services with easily and quickly identifying vehicles that have been powered by alternative fuels. This will allow them to take any necessary precautions when providing assistance.
